Custom BioThane Running Martingale

A running martingale made by hand from super-heavy BioThane, built to give you a bit more say when a horse gets its head up. The Y-strap runs from the girth up between the front legs, splitting into two rings that the reins pass through.

Because it works through the reins, it only comes into play when you take up contact and the horse lifts its head past where you want it. The rest of the time it sits quietly and stays out of the way, which makes it a sensible choice for green or sensitive horses.

A running martingale acts on the bit indirectly, only when you have rein contact and the horse raises its head too far. Sit quiet and it does nothing, so it suits sensitive and green horses.

Beta BioThane® is a tough, PVC-coated webbing, and one of the best strapping materials around. It's stronger than nylon or leather and fully waterproof, so there's no oiling or conditioning to worry about. It stays soft and pliable but wipes clean in seconds.

Rinse it under warm water with a little mild soap and wipe it dry. There's no oiling or conditioning to do, and unlike leather it won't dry out or hold odours.
