Custom Laced BioThane Browband

A browband is one of the few parts of the bridle you get to have fun with, and this one is built around a braided lacing centre that runs the full length of the band. The result is a bit of colour and detail on the horse's forehead without straying from a clean, traditional bridle.

Every layer is yours to choose: the main strap, the backing behind it, two lacing colours through the plait, the stitching, the keeper loops, and an optional engraved nameplate. Mix and match for something subtle or make it really stand out.

• Main colour runs 19mm wide, with the backing colour at 25mm so it frames the band.

• Two lacing colours are plaited through the centre.

• Your choice of stitching and keepers to finish it off.

• Optional nameplate if you'd like it engraved.

Getting the size right: measure your current browband end to end while it's lying flat. The loops on each end are about 3cm wide. A browband should sit snugly but comfortably across the forehead - you want to slide two stacked fingers under the front easily. Too loose and the bridle can slip back; too tight and it pinches and pulls on the ears.

Listed sizes are a guide, and we can make a custom size if you need one. As each browband is made by hand, allow for a slight variation.

The plaited lacing down the middle is what sets this apart from a plain browband. It's hand-laced in your two chosen colours for a bit of detail that still reads as tidy and traditional.

Beta BioThane® is a tough, PVC-coated webbing, and one of the best strapping materials around. It's stronger than nylon or leather and fully waterproof, so there's no oiling or conditioning to worry about. It stays soft and pliable but wipes clean in seconds.

Rinse it under warm water with a little mild soap and wipe it dry. There's no oiling or conditioning to do, and unlike leather it won't dry out or hold odours.
