Our cotton split reins are made by hand from soft flat-braided cotton, so they sit light and flexible in your hands and stay comfortable through a long ride. As split reins, the two sides run independently to each side of the bit, giving you fine, separate control for schooling, trail and general riding.
You choose how they're made: the main cotton colour, a contrast colour on the reinforced flap ends, your stitching colour, and the fittings. Each pair is put together to your specification.

25mm cotton width — note this can feel wide for small or children's hands.
Solid brass snap clips for an easy, secure connection to the bit.
The snap clips and flap ends are included in the stated length measurements.
Pick the main cotton colour, the contrast flap colour, your stitching and the fittings. Every pair is built to the combination you choose, so no two have to look the same.
The flat-braided cotton is soft and pliable rather than stiff, which makes the reins kind on your hands and easy to feel through. Good for riders who find leather or grip reins too firm.
The bit and buckle ends are finished with stitched coloured flaps that take the wear where the fittings attach, keeping the cotton neat and secure.
