Description

A safety must-have for loose ring bits: this chin strap stops the bit being pulled through your horse's mouth when you take a firm contact on one rein. Handmade to order in your choice of BioThane colours, keeper, stitching and buckles.

Additional details

On a loose ring bit, a hard pull on one rein can drag the whole ring towards your horse's mouth, and on the worst day pull the bit clean through it. This chin strap sits under the chin and quietly prevents that, so you get the free movement of a loose ring without the risk.

It fits all loose ring bits and clips in between the mouthpiece and the rein end of each ring. Set it with a little slack so the rings still move; a couple of fingers between the strap and the jaw is about right.

  • Stops the bit pulling through on loose ring snaffles

  • Brass roller buckles on both sides for easy, even adjustment

  • Contrast stitching and keeper in the colours you choose

  • Made to order from tough, waterproof BioThane

Pick your main colour, keeper colour, stitching and buckles at checkout and we'll make it up by hand to suit your bridle.

Designed for loose ring bits, where the ring can otherwise be pulled into the mouth under a strong one-sided contact. The chin strap holds everything in place while still letting the rings move freely.

Choose your main BioThane colour, keeper colour, stitching and buckles. Every strap is handmade to order, so it can match or contrast your bridle however you like.

Beta BioThane® is a tough, PVC-coated webbing, and one of the best strapping materials around. It's stronger than nylon or leather and fully waterproof, so there's no oiling or conditioning to worry about. It stays soft and pliable but wipes clean in seconds.

Rinse it under warm water with a little mild soap and wipe it dry. There's no oiling or conditioning to do, and unlike leather it won't dry out or hold odours.

Mac Tack is a small, Australian-owned business. We make our gear by hand from the best materials we can get, and we're proud of how it's put together.

Love these handy little straps to keep the bit secure in the horses mouth. Perfect for race horses who can’t go around in a ringbit for whatever reason.
